design notes

objective: to design a table which doubles in size in the first step and remains square. in the next step enlarges by another third and becomes round (or square again)

design: a square piece sits atop four tablelegs connected by rails on the outside and a cross through the centre. this piece rotates a quarterturn and hence leads to the legs and frame protruding on the corners.

four triangles, which make up the same area as the square piece are hinged on the ouside and fold out resting on the protruding legs.

four telescopic drawers get pulled out from the sides of the frames and hence protrude over the now outside perimeter of the square. four seperate leaves sit atop those (leaves can be any connecting shape) and get connected to the edge.

this design can be made in any size and material and the same principle would apply starting with an even triangle opening up to a hexagon.
